Childhood and Family
Sarafias Highbraun was born the second son to Dara Sin'Serrar, a High Elf, and his father, Serro Highbraun. He was inseparable from his older brother, Samiel, while growing up. They were raised in a quiet forest in the Tristfal Glades, secluded from the world. His father, a Paladin in service to Lordaeron, was rarely seen. He didn't understand at the time that his father's marriage to an elf would have caused him a great amount of scrutiny. The Highbraun family lived in secret, a carefully guarded secret...

One day, Sarafias' father returned home after being gone for months in the city of Stratholme. Upon coming home, he took Samiel and Sarafias into the cellar. There, he tied them both up. He hung Samiel by his arms and disemboweled him, killing him very slowly in front of Sarafias. Wordlessly, he hung Sarafias by his ankles and slit his throat. Sarafias' last memory of his father, was him plunging a knife into his mother's heart.

Sarafias recovered, having been saved by the healing arts of Uther. He spent the next year with the Argent Dawn, at Uther's side, who served as a kind of surrogate father to him, until he was killed by the Lich King.

It was then that Sarafias' uncle, Alandir, found him, and took him under his wing.

The Burning Crusade
Being raised a half-elf, Sarafias found no love among the High Elves, especially when they became Sin'Dorei. His uncle, realizing the trouble Sarafias would have, enlisted him at an early age with the Argent Dawn. Many of the knights remembered Sarafias, and how fond Uther was of him. Many felt that Sarafias was the last link to their lost captain. He was trained as a paladin of the light, and as a soldier of the Argent Dawn even found himself admitted to Stormwynd to study in the church.

When the Black Portal opened to the Outlands, Sarafias volunteered to be an ambassador to Silvermoon City, to gauge and inspect the new Blood Knight Order. The Argent Dawn was concerned over rumors of the alleged perversion of the light used by the Sin'Dorei Paladins. The Blood Knights were hostile to Sarafias, being neither of the blood, nor a Blood Knight himself.

It was during his investigation that Kael'thas Sunstrider's forces raided Silvermoon and took the Naaru from Silvermoon. Sarafias met with Lady Liadrynn, and was convinced that she and those Blood Knights who followed her were sincere in their efforts to protect the Naaru. He reported this to the Argent Dawn.

The Wrath of the Lich King
With the stirring in Northrend, Sarafias began to hear rumor of what was believed to be an agent of the Lich King, influencing the military order of Aeturnas Trinitas. Names whispered in secret meetings, hushed stories over roadside campfires, allowed a name to resurface that he had long presumed dead: Serro Highbraun.

Believing his father was somehow using Aeturnas Trinitas for his own ends, Sarafias dispatched those loyal to him as a captain in the Argent Dawn to join the Order of Aeturnas Trinitas. Over the next year, he learned a great deal of their operations and confirmed his suspicions.

Working with his uncle, Alandir, and Tirion Fording, Sarafias spent his family fortune purchasing the contract for Aeturnas Trinitas. If his father was pulling the strings of the Order, he would trace them to him...
